We advocate the link between being active and the improvement of people’s health and wellbeing, and we have an array of partners who promote and support people to change behaviours, improve activity levels and move towards a healthier lifestyle.

To help connect people to the wide range of opportunities to be active in the borough, we’re developing an interactive activity directory.

From Aerobics to Walking. Gardening to Rugby. Our Activity Finder will point you in the right direction to find out more about the clubs and opportunities to be active in Burnley.

Places and Spaces

We are extremely lucky to have so much wonderful outdoor space in the borough and there are multiple opportunities to be active outdoors. Being active outdoors is proven to improve physical and mental health, this can be walking down your street or playing football on your local field.

Struggle with motivation?

Are you nervous, anxious, or just a bit unsure of going alone?

Perhaps you have a health condition and would like some more advice and guidance before getting started?

If this, is you or someone you know, it would be beneficial to get in touch with the social prescribing team.

They accept referrals from GP’s, health practitioners and social workers but also accept self-referrals from individuals or their family.
