Our latest Burnley Together newsletter

Welcome to our Summer 2024 newsletter!

Inside, you’ll find loads of inspirational stories and updates about what we’ve been getting up to over the last few months. From exciting events taking place at Down Town to what’s coming up soon, we’re always busy working with the amazing communities around Burnley and Padiham.

We’re looking for clean, wearable school uniforms
in the Burnley area for our community school
uniform shop, to help more local kids get set for school in September.

That’s anything from jumpers, shirts, and blazers to P.E kits, ties, shoes and trainers. Both primary and secondary uniforms are welcome, as we’re looking for uniforms to suit all ages.

All uniforms can be donated at Down Town,
Burnley Tesco, Asda George or see our social
media pages for where other collection points are located.

Down Town is open Monday to Friday from 9am to
4pm, through the Summer Holidays, call in to see if we have anything you need for the new term.

Back in May, we celebrated in style by throwing a big
Birthday bash at Down Town.

The family-fun event included loads of fun games for
everyone to enjoy, including a raffle, tombola, guess the
teddy’s name and guess the number of sweets in a jar. There was plenty of tasty food rustled up too and we even
hosted some live cooking demos.

As well as activities, prizes and food, we also had a very
special guest at our birthday party. That’s right, football’s
very own Bertie Bee came along too, causing a buzz amongst all the BFC fans in the room.

We’d like to thank everyone who came along
and made the day special – we hope you all had as much fun as we did!

Here’s what you had to tell us…

“Down Town has been a huge saving grace in my
life over the past 12 months since using the
grocers, clothing, food parcels. It has also
become a safe zone. I come here and feel
comfortable and supported and can talk to staff easily if I need help or advice”.

We at Burnley Together are very grateful for
everybody that has contributed to the success of Down Town over the last year!

This especially includes staff, volunteers and the
generous donors that have made a huge
difference to many lives making days much
brighter for those in our communities.

Since opening our doors last year, we’ve supported
thousands of individuals and families through our community events, Relove the Preloved shop and Community Grocery.

In fact, back in November, Burnley Together achieved a
momentous milestone, with the 10,000th household contacting the hub for support and guidance.

This encouraged even more people across the Burnley and Padiham community, to head to Down Town to making the most of our services.

Down Town has been selected to be one of the Tesco In
Store vote choices!
