Thrive opens its doors to young people across Burnley

Our new face-to-face Youth Hub, Thrive, has opened its doors in Burnley. The service will give unemployed young people the tailored support they need to find employment. Thrive will also utilise a brand-new partnership between Jobcentre Plus and Burnley Council to support 16-24-year-olds across the borough.

Thrive is part of our community partnership, Burnley Together. Hosted at the Calico Group offices on Croft Street, Thrive provides appointments with specialist youth employability coaches. Coaches help individuals develop skills to help them into work and also supports their health, wellbeing and resilience.

One of our priorities is to address rising unemployment levels and support young people to fully participate in the workforce. We’re hoping to ensure that locally, there is the skills, knowledge and infrastructure in place to respond to opportunities.

Thrive forms part of several strategic interventions drawn up by Burnley Council to achieve this objective. Providing a single point of access, Thrive will  form a pivotal role in supporting young people into employment.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will have two specialist Youth Employability Coaches based at the Youth Hub.

Other partners from organisations such as The Princes Trust, Lancashire Women, Burnley Football Club in the Community and Burnley College will join the DWP team shortly, offering appointments and sessions in the hub.

Thrive brings together key services to support young people acquire skills, confidence, and progression opportunities. This will enable participation in the workforce through schemes such as Kickstart, Restart and Apprenticeships. But also, access to careers support, guidance and advice on further education options.
