On the 19th of November, local businesses, partners and officials were welcomed into the Thrive hub to celebrate the launch event. We are Burnley’s brand-new joint effort between local and national support services. We aim to help 16 – 24-year-olds get into learning or work. The launch event was hosted by The Calico Group in Burnley, where our hub is located.
Mayor of Burnley, Mark Townsend cut the ribbon to officially launch the support hub. We also saw a number of local and national services at the Thrive launch event. Such as members from Burnley Council and the Department for Work and Pensions.
The Mayor, Phil Jones of The Calico Group and Councillor Afrasiab Anwar were on hand to deliver speeches.
“It’s brilliant to be at the official launch of Thrive. I’m excited at the prospect of what it will achieve for the young people of our borough.
“Burnley Council commits to helping young people meet their potential and achieve their ambitions and, as the name says, thrive. We’re enthusiastic supporters of the work that Thrive is doing and it’s great to see that local businesses are also on board and backing this scheme to help develop our borough’s workforce of tomorrow.
“I’d also like to thank the DWP youth employment coaches for their excellent support of young people and for going that extra mile day in, day out, to help them build a career at the start of their working lives.” –Councillor Afrasiab Anwar
We are helping young people to reach new heights with an active hub open Monday- Friday. We offer a range of resources from CV building to Mental health support, finances to language support. Our hub has advisors from a variety of sectors to help young people succeed. As a result, around 100 young people already benefit from the fledgling service.
We will be working closely with local employers to offer a wide range of skilled and unskilled openings to help benefit young people in Burnley.
So, if you or someone you know would benefit from this amazing service, our hub is at The Calico Group building. Drop in or a chat or visit Thrive Career Resources – Burnley Together website. You can also, follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
