Looking for a volunteering role in a friendly team? Why not share your time with Down Town to make a real difference. Whether you’re looking for a way to give back to your community or you want to add some experience to your CV, we’ve got loads of opportunities available.

What we offer

There are so many reasons to volunteer with us, including…

  • A warm, friendly hub of activity
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Team building events
  • 1:1 wellbeing and supervision check-ins

You’ll work a minimum of three hours per week within these times.

  • Food bank: 8am-12pm
  • Kitchen & cafe: 9.30am-2.30pm
  • Community grocery & Relove shop: 9am-4pm

Community grocery assistant

Our community grocery feeds thousands of families every year.

If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real difference and gain some retail experience, our community grocery assistant role is for you.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Welcoming customers
  • Assisting with sign-ups and shopping
  • Stocking shelves and managing deliveries

Customer support assistant

Are you a people-person looking for some customer service experience? This could be the role for you.

As a customer support assistant, you’ll be the friendly face of Down Town.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Greeting visitors
  • Helping in our pre-loved shop
  • Sorting donations
  • Supporting events

Warehouse and foodbank assistant

As a warehouse and foodbank assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping families across Burnley and Padiham.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Packing food parcels
  • Organising stock
  • Helping with deliveries
