Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to be chosen to be part of the Tesco Community Grant scheme… Fast forward to now and we’re excited to announce that thanks to all of your blue token votes, we came second!
By coming second, we’ve been awarded £1000 in funding to support more people across Burnley and Padiham with our services – including the running of our community hub, Down Town.
We’d like to say a huge thank you for everyone who took the time to vote for us. Each blue token has the power to make a real difference to your community.
What funding will go towards
The £1000 of funding will go towards supporting more people in your community, including running Down Town, our community hub in the heart of Burnley Town Centre.
Down Town supports people from across Burnley and Padiham. We provide access to discounted food, pre-loved clothing and school uniforms, family activities, a community kitchen/café, cooking classes and support and guidance services.
We provide a safe, warm and welcoming environment for everyone in need of support. Whether it’s a brew and a chat for those who are socially isolated or a family looking for half-term inspiration without the cost, Down Town is here for the community.
Located at Charter Walk Shopping Centre, we work in partnership with The Calico Group, Burnley FC in the Community, Burnley Leisure and Culture, Burnley Council and the Message Trust to deliver our vital services.
Supporting projects since 2016
Tesco Community Grants fund thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping to fight holiday hunger, tackle mental health, support young people, host community events and much more.
