1032 children receive toys and gifts through Christmas present appeal

This year marked the third year in a row in which Burnley Together has led on the annual Burnley Christmas present appeal. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Burnley and Padiham, the 2022 Christmas present appeal has been one of the best to date.

58 businesses, schools, charities and shops across the town hosted toy bins with 545 families referred by agencies and schools to Burnley Together. A total of 1032 children, aged up to 16 received a Christmas parcel. We received over 7000 toys, averaging 6 gifts per child from the start of November.

56 volunteers from The Calico Group, Burnley Borough Council and Primary Care Network organisations helped pack all the gifts once they had been collected.

Nicola Larnach, Coordinator at Burnley Together; ‘Last year, around 700 children received children received gifts from the appeal, to help 1032 children this year with the hardships many are facing across the town shows the amazing spirit of the people of Burnley.

‘The people of Burnley and Padiham did not let us down. We would like to say a huge thank you to the people who donated for their generosity and for making this appeal a huge success.’
